Why Cite Sources?

It is important to cite the sources you use for research in order to:

  • give credit to the author.
  • make it easy for the person reading or listening to your presentation to find the sources you used.
  • give your paper or presentation more authority -- a list of strong, credible sources will impress your audience and teacher.
  • avoid plagiarism.
