Where to Find Articles

The library buys a few magazines and newspapers in print

The library buys thousands of magazines, journals and newspapers, such as the Washington Post, through online databases.

When you do research for your classes and need to find articles, you will likely use online databases.

This guide will focus on how to look at an article in a database, and a few strategies for how to tell the database what you want.

Why Use a Magazine, Journal or Newspaper Article?

Magazines, journals and newspapers:

  • Report on events, issues or scholarly research.
  • Are good sources for current or recent information.

Magazines, journals and newspapers typically do NOT provide a summary or overview of a topic.
