Skin (Integument)

This unit covers topics on the structure of skin, the cell types found in skin, the functions of skin, various skin conditions and diseases (including psoriasis, poison ivy, and melanoma), and other topics specific to skin. We will also discuss tattoos, alopecia, sunburns, and stretch marks.

Courtesy of National Geographic TV, StemCellTV reports on the skin gun. McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine takes a burn victims stem cells from his skin and regenerates skin to heal him in 4 days. Still experimental, a dozen patients have been successfully treated using this new technology.
