Muscles

This unit covers the anatomy and physiology of the muscular system. You will learn to differentiate and distinguish the three different types of muscle, and name where in the body each is found. You will be able to describe the connective tissue coverings of a typical muscle, and to differentiate between tendons, and ligaments. You will also be able to label a muscle fiber and a sarcomere. Most importantly, you will learn and understand how a skeletal muscle contracts. Other topics include muscle paralysis, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, tetanus, and rigor mortis.

Goats that faint? They are called Myotonic goats. These goats have developed an adaptation (a gene mutation) that freezes their muscles temporarily when they are scared or excited. Very funny!
