Here's how to craft a better search to get fewer and more relevant results:

  • Identify the main ideas in your research question.

  • Connect the main ideas with AND.
          Susan B. Anthony AND women's rights movement
     
  • Use quotation marks around 2 or more words that need to be together.
          "Susan B. Anthony" AND "women's rights movement"
     
  • Use OR between synonyms/related terms.
          ("women's rights movement" OR "women's suffrage") AND Susan B. Anthony
     
  • Limit your search to a specific domain or website such as .gov or such as npr.org.
