Manassas Campus Seed Library

Information about and resources for Manassas Campus' Seed Library.

Seed Libraries

A seed library collects and stores seeds and shares them with the community for free. It provides a location where community members can exchange seeds and information on gardening.

How to Use the Seed Library

Step 1. Pick your Seeds

Browse through our collection of FREE seeds for whatever you might be interested in growing. Because this is a sharing library, the selection will continually change.

Step 2. Put Seeds into Small Envelopes

Chances are that you don't need an entire seed packet! To allow us to share the seeds with as many people as possible, please transfer a small amount of seeds to the little brown envelopes.

Step 3. Fill Out a Label

To remember what you've chosen, fill out a seed label and make sure to write down all the information from the original packet.

Step 4. Return Unused Seeds

Return any unused or saved seeds at the end of the season - just fill out a label and envelope to share them with others.

How to Use this Guide

All of the books, ebooks, and articles in this guide are in the NOVA Library System's collection.  The title and image of each book links to it's entry in the catalog. If a physical book is at a different campus, it can be sent to your campus by submitting a request, which can be done in the catalog, or asking a library worker for assistance.

Many of the resources in this guide are either localized to Virginia and the southeastern United States, or generalized. Regional differences are noted when present.

If there are any resources you have found helpful with your gardening journey, please submit them to coconnor@nvcc.edu and we will review them to see if they are a good fit for this guide.

If any of the links are not working, please send an email to coconnor@nvcc.edu with the name of the resource you are having trouble accessing. Thank You!
