Nursing promotes collaborative planning to ensure availability and accessibility to quality care requiring a multidisciplinary approach and participation of all health care professionals. To be effective and provide quality patient care, there must be improved communication interprofessionally, appropriate exchange of information and coordination of care. Teamwork includes effective collaboration within nursing and interprofessional teams, the fostering of open communication, mutual respect and shared decision making to achieve quality patient care.
