Welcome & Introduction

ENG 111: Forty Chances

This resource guide will provide resources and search strategies for stages of the research process.  You will most likely be moving between these stages throughout the research process, since research builds on itself.

Exploration

.......................

Focused Searching

Is there information written about your topic?
What are some ways to narrow the topic?

Where to explore:
   Google
   Article Databases

Books (use the table of contents for ideas)

Write down: main ideas, vocabulary, important events, key people and organizations, key issues or controversies

Once you have identified a narrow topic, search for sources you can use in your paper.

Use the key words and ideas you discovered during the exploration stage as search terms to focus on a specific aspect of a topic in article databases.
