Search Tips

Search using the most important words to describe your topic. Also try searching for synonyms and related terms. 

Click a book's title to view and select:

  • 'Request Item' and then 'Sign in' to have books sent to any NOVA campus library for you to check out with your NOVACard.
  • 'Available Online' or 'Full Text Available' to read eBooks. Look at a book's table of contents or index to find sections with the most relevant information.
  • 'Citation' to view in MLA format.
  • 'Subjects' to search for more titles using related terms.

eBook Search Tips

Search for eBooks on your topic in the library catalog.

  • Filter your results by selecting 'Available Online' to display only eBooks.
  • Search for synonyms and related terms, key people/organizations or key events/issues. 
  • Put the word AND between search terms; education AND leadership.
  • Click the 'Full-text available at' link to open the eBook.
  • Look for toolbars that provide print, email, and citation options.
