About Academic Video Online

How does Academic Video Online work?

Academic Video Online is a collection of streaming video titles on the Alexander Street Press platform (ProQuest). This collection contains over 17,000 titles spanning the widest range of subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more.

Embed Films in Canvas

Academic Video Online films can be embedded directly into your Canvas course using the Alexander Street Press video tool.  To access the tool:

  1. Go to the page or assignment you would like to embed the video in and go into edit mode.
  2. Select the plug icon from the toolbar 
  3. Select "view all"
  4. Select Alexander Street Video
  5. Search for the title of the video you would like to embed
  6. Select Embed.  Note: you can choose between small, medium, large, or a return link.
