Terms of Service

In line with our mission to provide reliable and user-friendly access to the world of information, the Loudoun Campus Library lends portable projectors to registered NOVACard users. Our primary goal in lending technology is to support the academic success of our students. These devices may only be used in the library group study rooms (LC 302D and LC 302F). As these projectors represent a significant investment by the Library and IT, all users are expected to maintain proper supervision and care of the equipment. Users must abide by the College’s Computer Use Agreement which covers peripheral devices.

*Important Information*

  • Projectors are for LIBRARY GROUP STUDY ROOM USE ONLY  (LC 302D and LC 302Fand must remain on the premises of the Loudoun Campus Library.
  • Standard loan period is 2 hours. A shorter loan period will result if the library closes within 2 hours of checkout.
  • Users are fully responsible for the care of the projector and all of its components during the life of the loan. If a problem occurs while in use, please report to library staff before returning equipment. 

Projector Returns

Secure the projector in the carrying case and include all additional items; power cable, AC adaptor, remote, and the universal 24-pin to VGA cable. Return the carrying case to the reference desk. If a library staff member is not available, return the carrying case to the circulation desk on the 2nd floor of the library.

NEVER leave a projector unattended.

*In the event of an emergency evacuation or building closure, leave the projector in the library group study room. Library staff can assist in clearing any related fines or blocks.

Replacement Fees

Replacement fees for lost, stolen or damaged projectors: $650.

Violations

Violation of these Terms of Service may result in loss of library privileges. Unpaid replacement fees (for damaged equipment) will result in a block to your library account.

General Questions

What is the ML1050ST+ Optoma Projector?

The Optoma ML1050ST+ is a portable projector enabling you to project images up to 135-inches from a few feet away with the 1,000 lumens short throw. Its auto focus lens and palm-sized form factor make it easy to place and project anywhere.

A PC-free media player, image viewer and document reader display office documents, PDFs and images from micro SD cards and USB storage devices.

You can also use the included universal 24-pin to VGA cable to connect your PC laptop and display the screen, related images and documents.

What is included with the projector?

Included in the carrying case is the projector, instructions, and additional items; power cable, AC adaptor, remote, and universal 24-pin to VGA cable. All items must be returned to the reference desk. If a library staff member is not available at the reference desk, return the carrying case to the circulation desk on the 2nd floor of the library.

How can I checkout a projector?

A valid NOVACard is required to checkout a projector. Projectors are located at the reference desk on the 3rd floor of the library.

How long can I checkout a projector?

The standard loan period is 2 hours. A shorter loan period will result if the library closes within 2 hours of checkout. 

What happens if I lose or damage the equipment?

Users are responsible for loss or damage. Please report any loss or damage to a library staff member before returning the projector. Replacement Costs: $650.

What should I do if the projector is not functioning properly?

Please see a library staff member for assistance.

Do you restrict where I can take the projector?

Projectors must remain in the Loudoun Campus Library for group study room use only.

What if there is a campus emergency and we must evacuate the library or building?

How much does it cost to checkout a projector?  
There is no cost to borrow a projector. Users must have a valid NOVACard.

Are there any hidden fees?
No, but there are replacement fees of $650 if the projector is lost or damaged.
