Creating Persistent URLs in Lexis-Nexis

★ Persistent URLs in Lexis-Nexis are called Document Links.


  1. From the results page, click on the article title.
  2. In the upper right corner, click on the Document Link icon:  Lexis-Nexis document link icon
  3. In the window that opens, right-click on the title of the article. 
  4. Click on "Copy Shortcut" (IE users), "Copy Link Address" (Chrome), "Copy Link Location" (Firefox), or "Copy Link" (Safari) 
  5. Add the following proxy prefix to the front of the URL:
  6. Example of a "proxied" persistent link:,270077,11059,8411&hl=t&hv=t&hnsd=f&hns=t&hgn=t&oc=00240&perma=true
  7. To shorten the link, you may want to plug it into a site like Bitly (, which will convert the link into a smaller one that is easier to work with. The links never expire.
