Creating Persistent URLs (PURLs)

Creating Persistent URLs for ARTstor

★ Persistent URLs in ARTstor are called Image URLs.

Steps:

  1. From the results page, right-click on the image and then select Generate image URL.
  2. Highlight and copy the Image Viewer URL.
  3. Add the following prefix to the front of the URL:
    http://eznvcc.vccs.edu:2048/login?url=
  4. Example of a "proxied" persistent link:
    http://eznvcc.vccs.edu:2048/login?url=http://library.artstor.org/library/secure/ViewImages?id=9jNRdDggMjQgOT81FTx5RnkvWnwkfQ%3D%3D&userId=gzRPeTc%3D&zoomparams=
  5. To shorten the link, you may want to plug it into a site like Bitly (http://bitly.com/), which will convert the link into a smaller one that is easier to work with. The links never expire.
