Creating Persistent URLs for JSTOR

★ Persistent links in JSTOR are called Stable URLs.

Steps:

  1. From the results list, click on the title of the article you want.
  2. At the top of the screen you will see information about the publication. Highlight and copy the Stable URL listed there.

  3. Add the following prefix to the front of the URL:
    http://eznvcc.vccs.edu:2048/login?url=

  4. Example of a "proxied" persistent link:
    http://eznvcc.vccs.edu:2048/login?url=http://www.jstor.org/stable/4193273
  5. To shorten the link, you may want to plug it into a site like Bitly (http://bitly.com/), which will convert the link into a smaller one that is easier to work with. The links never expire.
