A block can be manually added by circulation staff, relating to several different block descriptions/options, including routinely late returns, alerting to personal items left in the library, etc.
Required Role: Circulation Desk Operator or Manager OR Circulation Desk Operator – Limited (student workers)
1. Navigate to Manage Patron Services (Fulfillment > Check in/Check out > Manage Patron Services).
2. Search for the patron by entering their MyNOVA username or EMPLID (student ID number). Select the patron from the drop-down menu and click Go.
3. Patron information shows. Click the linked patron name to view user/patron details.
4. Alma defaults to the General Information tab. To add a block, select the Blocks tab, then click Add Block on the right hand side of the screen. Select the appropriate Block description from the drop-down. You may also add a Note or Expiration Date. Click the green Add and Close button.
5. The block is now visible on User Details screen. (You can edit by opening the ellipsis button and choosing Edit from the drop-down menu.) When complete, click Save in the upper right of the page.
6. The block window will now appear anytime you go to the user's patron services screen. Circulation staff may override a block when appropriate.
1. Select Fulfillment from the side navigation and choose Manage Patron Services from the menu.
2. Scan in the patron’s barcode or type in EMPLID. Click Go.
The Block notice appears. Click OK.
3. Patron information shows. Click the linked MyNOVA username in the ID field to view user details/patron record.
5. Alma defaults to the General Information tab. To remove a block, select the Blocks tab, then click the ellipse on the right side of the block you wish to delete. Open the drop-down menu and click Delete. The Block is deleted without any confirmation request. Click Save on the upper right of the screen.
