This process allows you to create records for campus created items (i.e. non-LTS catalogued items). These items can include course reserves, equipment, or leased books. For specific instructions regarding course reserve or leased books, please see the following:
Required Role: Physical Inventory Operator
1. Navigate to Add Physical Item. (Resources > Create Inventory > Add Physical Item).
2. Choose Holdings Type: New. Choose Book as the holdings type, except for individual articles. You will be able to choose the material type within the record.
3. Fill out the following required information for the new item:
Do not scan or type the barcode in the top section.
4. Fill out the following Item Information:
5. Lastly, scan the barcode in the Item Information Barcode field.
Saving this record will create a work order request for LTS Acquisitions. We want to delete this request.
To delete, view the Tasks widget on your homepage. (Need to add the widget? Learn how here.)
Select all requests related to brief record creations, and click Cancel.
Assigning Locations when creating brief records in Alma:
**Do not assign anything to Uncatalogued. It serves no purpose in Alma. **
B&T leased books – assign to Circulating location, it will have a 3-week checkout, be renewable, and requestable in Alma. If we decide to publish the records, they will be requestable in Primo, as well.
Single Issue Journals – assign to Periodicals, 1 week checkout, renewable.
Electronics – assign to Equipment, then choose the appropriate loan policy.
Course Reserve items – assign to Reserves, then choose the appropriate loan policy.
Anatomical Models – assign to Reserves, then choose the appropriate loan policy.
Bookstand – assign to Reserves, then choose the appropriate loan policy.
CD accompanying a book – Same location and policy as the book.
Calculator – assign to Equipment, then choose the appropriate loan policy.
Headphones - assign to Equipment, then choose the appropriate loan policy.
