Place a Hold Request

These instructions are for submitting a hold request on a patron's behalf. This process is primarily used for community patrons as they cannot submit a hold request through Primo. You can submit a request by locating the Physical Item or from with the patron record.

Required Role: Requests Operator


1. Search for the Physical Item. You can search by barcode, title, etc.


2. Click Request next to the title or copy you want. 

Note:

  • Permanent Location - Circulating
  • Item Policy - Normal


3. In the Request Type* drop-down box, select Patron physical item request.


3. Fill out the required fields:

  • Requester: Scan the patron’s barcode or enter EMPLID/MyNOVA Username to select the patron
  • Pickup At: Select the campus location from the drop-down box

4. Click submit. The following pop-up message will appear: The request was successfully submitted.


1. Within the Patron Record, select 'Submit Request'.


2. Search by title in the Title field.


3. Choose the correct title from the drop-down menu and select 'Patron Physical'.


4. The Requester field will already be populated with the patron. Fill out the remaining Pickup At required field and click Submit.
