These instructions are for changing a Student Patron to a Community Patron once they are UNAFFILIATED with NOVA and no longer enrolled.
Required Roles: Circulation Desk Operator or Manager OR Circulation Desk Operator – Limited (student workers) - to edit the user details/user group. User Manager - to toggle the record from external to internal.
1. Select Fulfillment from the side navigation and choose Manage Patron Services from the menu.
2. Search for the patron by entering their MyNOVA username or EMPLID (student ID number). Select the patron from the drop-down menu and click Go.
3. Patron information shows. Click the linked MyNOVA username in the ID field to view user details/patron record.
4. Alma defaults to the Identifiers tab. Click on the General information tab to view the User group status.
Note the Expiration and Purge dates. Click 'Open for Update' to edit dates for Community Patron status if needed:
5. Select the drop-down menu in User group and select Community. Click Save.
6. If you are a User Manager, follow the directions below, starting with step 3. If not, inform one of your library User Manager of the patron's name and EMPLID, and ask them to toggle the record to Internal.
Required Role: User Manager.
1. Search for patron's account information by name or EMPLID.
2. Click on the linked MyNOVA username to view user details.
3. On the User Details page, click the Toggle Account Type button in the upper right.
4. Click Confirm in the Confirmation Message window.
This changes the Account Type to Internal and will not connect the account to SIS.
