Placing Hold Requests in Transit

These instructions are for placing Hold Requests in transit to another campus.

Required Role: Requests Operator OR Circulation Desk Operator or Manager OR Circulation Desk Operator – Limited (student workers)


1. Under Fulfillment, choose Scan In Items from the drop-down menu.


2. In 'Scan In Items' tab:

  • 'Automatically print slip' should be No
  • 'Register in-house use' should be UNCHECKED


3. Scan the hold request item in the 'Scan item barcode' field. Alma will populate the item's Destination and Request/Process Type

3a. If the hold request is destined for another campus library, you will see it listed under Destination and the system has put the item in transit. Place the item in an intercampus bag and send it on its way.

3b. If the item will be picked up at your library, the system has put the item on its Active Hold Shelf and has sent an email to the patron notifying them that their hold is available. Place the book on your hold shelf.
